Transition to ConnectWise RMM

The IT team is currently transitioning our endpoint monitoring and management platform from ConnectWise Automate to ConnectWise RMM, a modern, cloud-based solution. This upgrade allows us to manage, monitor, and maintain company workstations more efficiently without relying on on-premises infrastructure. ConnectWise RMM provides improved performance, enhanced security capabilities, and more robust and reliable patch management, ensuring that all devices stay up to date and protected. For most users, this transition will happen quietly in the background and will require little to no action on your part.

As part of this new platform, patches and software updates will be deployed to workstations on a regular schedule. Many of these updates will require a system reboot to be fully applied. When this happens, you may see a notification appear on your screen titled Restart Required. This message indicates that your workstation has received updates and needs to restart to finish installing them. The notification will let you know that your machine is scheduled to restart automatically within one hour, giving you time to wrap up your work.

When you see the prompt shown below, please save any open files and documents as soon as possible. You’ll have two options: click Restart Now to apply the updates immediately (recommended if you’re at a good stopping point), or click Postpone for 1 hour if you need additional time to finish what you’re working on. Please note that postponing only delays the restart temporarily, and the system will eventually reboot to ensure updates are applied. You can click Postpone for 1 hour a maximum of three times. Keeping your machine current with these updates is an important part of protecting both your data and our company network, so we appreciate your cooperation during this transition. If you have any questions or experience issues after a restart, please contact the IT Helpdesk by emailing [email protected], or if it's urgent, by calling ext. 8500.
